SRTC extends warm welcome to BSC staff members on Wednesday

On Wednesday, October 18, representatives with Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) met with Bainbridge State College staff members who are scheduled to transition as SRTC employees beginning July 1, 2018.
The meeting began with Dr. Stuart Rayfield, Interim BSC President, welcoming SRTC to campus and briefly “putting faces to names” by introducing each staff member to the representatives, which consisted of Dr. Craig Wentworth, SRTC President; Jim Glass, SRTC Provost/VP of Academic Affairs; and Michael Heard, Director of Human Resources.
Wentworth expressed his excitement about SRTC coming to Bainbridge on July 1, by explaining the new opportunities SRTC will present to the area—and welcoming the staff members who could become SRTC employees on July 1, 2018.
“We are so excited about you all coming on board with Southern Regional Technical College—and we are looking forward to serving the students in the Bainbridge area, while working with ABAC,” he said.
“We are in the business to help students and people. That is why we are here. We change many people’s lives. It’s about helping people and the communities. It will take the entire college community to make a student successful—and we intend on doing that for every student that comes to this campus.”
Currently, SRTC has approximately 3,900 students enrolled. The institution offers 29 associate degrees, four of which are transferrable Associate of Science degrees, 33 diploma, and 86 technical certificate of credit programs.
Jim Glass, SRTC Provost and VP of Academic Affairs, also extended a warm welcome to the staff and emphasized their importance to SRTC.
He said, “You will be just as important to our mission as any of our faculty. We strive to be the best we can be every single day at Southern Regional Technical College. It is important to us for every student to feel like they are going to have a positive, successful learning experience—and you all help make that possible.”
Towards the end of the meeting, Michael Heard, SRTC Director of Human Resources, explained the transition process.
By December, BSC staff members who will be either transitioned or directly appointed into SRTC positions will receive a personalized letter offering them a conditional position with SRTC.
“We look forward to working with each of you and hope you will come on board with us in July,” said Heard.
To help alleviate doubt and fears related to the transition, Wentworth stressed that the staff members of Bainbridge State College would have a conditional position available to them at SRTC.
“We are going to work hard to make you all feel like a part of the Southern Regional Technical College family,” he said.
