Norma Jean Shephard was born August 7, 1934 in Checota, OK, the daughter of J.B. and Edith Shephard. She married Harol McConnell and lived in Southwest Georgia for the last 35 years. Norma was Baptist by faith. She worked as personnel manager at Wal-Mart in Cairo until her retirement.

As a partner in Harol’s Lock & Key, Norma found out quickly where the best dirt roads were. She loved to ride those dirt roads on her golf cart. Babies held a special place in her heart and those included her fur babies: dogs, cats and a pet goat. Norma never had an idle moment; she would work on crossword puzzles every spare moment. She kept up with the happenings via Facebook which earned her the nickname “The Facebook Queen”.

Survivors include her husband, Harol Dee McConnell; her daughters, Kathy McConnell of Bainbridge, GA and Regina Denise Riffle of Tuscon, AZ; her eleven grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her children, Keith McConnell and Kay McConnell; her sister, Louise Claunts; and her granddaughter, Brenda Kay McConnell.
