Sterling Donley

February 12, 1939 – February 25, 2018

Sterling Donley, 79, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018.

The graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Hoyt Donley officiating.

Sterling Donley was born February 12, 1939 in Baker County, GA, the son of J.T. Donley and Ethel Pearl Cobb Donley. He was a graduate of Miller County High School. He proudly served his county in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Sterling married Sue “Pat” Pierce, who proceeded him in death. He worked as an electrician until his retirement and was of Baptist faith.

As an electrician, Sterling was always tinkering with wires somewhere. He enjoyed fishing, reading and sports. He followed the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves from season to season and loved to help the referees from his easy chair. Sterling’s claim to fame was Elivs Presley helping him unload helicopter blades while serving in the United States Army.

Survivors include his daughter, Joanna Heard Eakin and her husband, Earl, of Decatur County, GA; his siblings, Martha Holloway of Smyrna, GA, Jerry Conley and his wife, Brenda, of Albany, GA and Ann Shirley Conley; his grandchildren, Emma Heard Dobbel and her husband, John, of Lynn Haven, FL and Derrick Edward Crews of Augusta, GA; his great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Makayli and Jase; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Sterling was preceded in death by his sister, Newana Radney.

  1. Joanna I am so sorry to hear of Stirlings passing. We worked at Pierce Electric and Turner Electric and were like family. I will be praying for you and your family. I have been in a wheel chair for about 5 years so I probably can’t make it. Remember I love ya’ll
