Dennis Wade Faircloth was born September 1, 1956 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Wade and Ruth Hale Faircloth. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1975, and continued his legacy as a Bearcat by working on the “Chain Gang” under the Friday night lights. Dennis worked as a Client Specialist with GA Pines for over 30 years and as superintendent for Leisure Services at the softball fields.

Described as “a simple man”, Dennis Faircloth was anything but simple. He loved life and everyone in his life. He was a caretaker and spent his days being “that guy” for his yard crew who were like family to him. Dennis loved “his guys” and mowing yards. He enjoyed sports: softball, football and basketball. He coached, watched, participated, umpired and supervised over the last 50 or so years. Dennis was always in for good food and Alabama football. He would chuckle as he said, “Roll Tide” to his friends from other teams.

Survivors include the love of his life, Diane Cross Atkinson; his children, Corey & Brandy Atkinson; his siblings, Wayne “Buddy” Faircloth and his wife, Lisa, Jane Faircloth Lambert and her husband, Powell, and Rose Faircloth Baxley; his nieces and nephews, Todd Baxley, Gina Baxley Paxton, Misty & Blake Norton, Candy & Lee Thomas; several cousins and great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend, a rescued English Bulldog, Lucy. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

  1. Diane, I am so sorry. Like the song says (Only The Good Die Young). If there is anything we can do let us know.
    With Love,

  2. I am very sorry to hear this sad news. May the Lord provide you with strength and peace in the coming days!

  3. I am sure we are related. My gggf Garnett Faircloth was one of Florida’s pioneering families, building a cracker house underneath Bainbridge in Gadsden County. Grandfather and father were Benjamin Faircloths. I came across this notice on Dennis as I was looking at the Bainbridge News. I am sorry for your loss. Dennis sounds like a true Faircloth, hard working, family loving, give you the shirt off his back kind of man. May God bring you and your family peace.
