Myrtice Louise Black was born January 3, 1931 in Newton, GA, the daughter of Ennis Bertha Black and Levenia Norman Black. She married Alex William Davis in 1945. Mrs. Davis was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis was known for taking care of her people and being the peacemaker. She treated everybody as her family. She could cook most anything and never let a spot at her table go empty if she could help it. When she made biscuits, everyone wanted a seat at the table and would even take a spot standing if necessary. Many of the neighbors recall her being in the pea patch and acting as the recruiter for pea picking. Mrs. Davis was the perfect farmer’s wife and instilled that strong work ethic in her children. She had a rich Christian faith and raised her children to love the Lord. Springtime was her favorite season because she enjoyed watching the blooms burst forth with new life.
