Brenda Joyce Butler was born March 23, 1941 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Odis H. and Virginia G. Butler. She moved from Birmingham to Quincy, FL in 1949. Brenda graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1959 and married Thomas M. “Mickey” Doss in 1960. They made their home in Bainbridge and Brenda retired from Decatur County Schools in 2002. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Brenda loved to sew and made most of the children’s clothes growing up. She took her love of thread to a new level by opening “Stitching Post”. Many will remember “Miss Brenda” fondly from her years of service as a substitute and later as a secretary in the schools. (Truth be known, her servants heart lead her to keep many mischievous children out of trouble.) After retirement, she spent her days helping others without a second thought. If a meal was organized at the church, Brenda was surely a part of it.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Thomas M. “Mickey” Doss; her daughter, Janone Doss; her son, Tommy Doss and his wife, Keli, of Waycross, GA; and her grandchildren, Lane and Ava Doss. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.
