Advance voting for July 24th Runoff underway

Advance voting for the July 24 Runoff Election is underway with the Republican nominees for governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state, and the Democratic nominee for state school superintendent at stake.

If you are a registered voter, you can vote in the runoff, even if you didn’t vote in the May 22nd Primary Election. The only restriction is if you did vote in the Primary Election and picked either a Republican or Democratic ballot, you must vote the same ballot type – either Republican or Democratic.

However, if you chose a nonpartisan ballot in May, then you may pick either a Republican or a Democratic ballot.

On the Republican ticket are the following: For governor, L.S. “Casey” Cagle and Brian Kemp; for lieutenant governor, Geoff Duncan and David Shafer; and secretary of state, David Belle Isle and Brad Raffensperger.

On the Democratic ticket for state school superintendent are Sid Chapman and Otha E. Thornton Jr.

Advance voting began Monday, and will continue through Friday, July 20. There will no voting and the Elections Office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th to celebrate our country’s independence.

Advance voting hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is also a Saturday of advance voting on July 14, which the hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Locations for advance voting are the Fairgrounds polling location at 1211 Vada Road and the Elections Office at the Courthouse Annex at 122 W. Water St.
