4-H Forestry Judging Team Competes

Seven Decatur County 4-Her’s have been spending the past few months preparing for the Southwest District Forestry Field Day held at C.M. Stripling Irrigation Research Park. The junior team (5th-8th grade students) received 3rd place honors. Team members were Rachel Hayes, Langston Bennett, Kinsey Ward, Jayden Guyton, and Kaleb Guyton. Rachel Hayes was 2nd highest junior individual. Seniors (9th-12th grade students) competing were Abby Bennett and Journey Austinson. Journey Austinson was 3rd highest senior individual. 4-Her’s competed in compass and pacing, insect and disease identification, tree identification, and saw timber volume estimation. The George Nutting Company sponsored the Decatur County 4-H Forestry Judging Team.
