Decatur County Schools Foundation


The Decatur County Schools Foundation is accepting
applications for funding of Foundation Grants.
PHILOSOPHY: Local community, businesses, industry and schools have joined in a partnership to create a climate which is favorable to education. The attainment of high scholastic goals is a primary objective.
PURPOSE: The Foundation Fund has been established to reward academic excellence.
OBJECTIVES: It is anticipated that those students who are recognized and involved in this program will benefit by forming feelings of increased self-worth and self-confidence which will motivate them to achieve their fullest potential.
ACTIVITIES OR USES: Funds will be used to help finance worthwhile Academic and Cultural activities which are not normally funded from regular school funds, tax dollars, or fundraising activities, (i.e. Bond Booster/type activities). No funds from this foundation may be designated to support any athletic activity.
REGULATIONS
OF FUNDS:
Funds received from memberships and contributions are invested in an interest-paying account. Only interest earned on the account is used for approved activities or reinvested for further use.
BOARD OF
DIRECTORS:
The board of directors gives final approval of all expenditures form this fund. Directors serve three-year staggered terms. The Board of Directors is divided into three classes, each equal in number, representing the education, civic, and business/industry sectors of our local community. Board members are nominated by each school and assigned to the respective class from which they were selected.

GRANT PURPOSE: To reward academic excellence by helping finance worthwhile academic and cultural activities.

GRANT PERIOD: School term of 2001/2002 and each school term thereafter.

ELIGIBILITY: Decatur County teachers may apply for sponsorship of worthwhile academic and cultural activities which are not normally funded from regular school funds, tax dollars, or fund-raising activities, (i.e., band booster/type activities). No funds from this foundation may be designated to support any athletic activity.

FUNDING CONDITIONS: In submitting a grant application, applicants agree to the following stipulations:
  1. The Decatur County Schools Foundation (DCSF) reserves the right to reject any application received or reduce the amount of funding requested if it is determined that the application does not meet the required specifications or if funds should be limited for any reason.
  2. The Decatur County Schools Foundation is the final approving authority for all reports and products produced as integral parts of any funding agreement.
  3. All reports and products resulting from the grant become the property of the DCSF.
  4. Equal and fair consideration of all populations regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, or disabilities should be given in the selection of project participants, and in other activities operated as part of the project.
  5. Completed applications will be submitted by the applicant to the Decatur County Superintendent of Schools.
  6. The recipient will use accepted DCSF application forms and agree to submit a final evaluation of the project no later than 10 working days after completion to the Decatur County Superintendent of Schools.
  7. The application process is ongoing. Teachers may submit grant requests at any time deemed appropriate with the understanding that the Foundation Board of Directors will meet quarterly to evaluate requests. The Foundation Board of Directors reserves the right to call special selection meetings when a request is considered to be timely.
  8. Application guidelines are available to each school on the Foundation Web Site.

FUNDING PROCEDURE: Upon receipt of the grant, a check will be issued to the applicant's home school for deposit into the school account. At completion of the project, the respective school will have on file receipts/invoices for all expenditures and will submit a budget completion report to the DCSF. Any unused funds will be returned to the Foundation.
