Christine G. Sellars, 89, of Climax, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dean and Rev. Scott Lord officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with James Spears, Daniel Fewell, John Barber, Chad Leverette, Adam Roberts, Scott Eakin, Dan Nelson and Hunter Boyd serving as active pallbearers. “Miss” Christine’s grandchildren and members of Maranatha Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Christine Gainous was born January 8, 1928 in Climax, GA, the daughter of Tony Elijah and Annie Lois Logue Gainous. She was a graduate of Climax High School and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Christine married William Henry Sellars and raised her family in Decatur County. She retired from Jack Winter and Belk.
Fondly known to many as “Miss” Christine, her sweet spirit and gentle ways made every person feel special. She was a gifted seamstress and a dynamic cook. “Miss” Christine sewed the outfits for her church’s live nativity over the years and even baked the cakes and pies for her Thanksgiving table just last week. She enjoyed making ceramics and tending her flowers, especially her beloved daylilies. Her family describes her as “an angel on earth” who lived for and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grands and great-great-grands with all her heart.
Survivors include her children, Joyce Baskin of Largo, FL, Stanley Sellers and his wife, Vicki, of Bainbridge, GA, Greg Sellars and his wife, Lynda, also of Bainbridge, GA, Deborah Velez-Rivera and her husband, Bob, of Climax, GA; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sellars of Climax, GA; her grandchildren, Andrew Belcher, Kristy & Stanley Harrison, Michelle Sellars, Sherri & Daniel Roberts, Shannon Giannars, Mandy & Chris Dukes, Christopher & Kristen Sellars, Jennifer Moore & Wendell Singletary, Brandon & Jenniy Velez-Rivera, Tiffany & Devin Justice and Jason & Stephanie Velez-Rivera; her great-grandchildren, Joseph & Brianna Belcher, Maegan, Arin & Matthew Harrison, Dylan Haire, Mason Sellars, Grayson Lewis, Kenzie, Lauran & Taelyn Roberts, Wil, Carlye, Cecily & Emily Giannars, Kale Dukes, Hunter, Raegan, Jacob & Chase Moore, Peyton, Lindsay & Austin Phillips, Evan French, Sydney & Brenna Justice, Brayden & Olivia Grace Velez-Rivera and Addison; her great-great-grandchildren, Shanley and Emerie Kate. In addition to her parents and her husband, “Miss” Christine was preceded in death by her children, William Randall Sellars and Brenda Faye Sellars; her siblings, Arnold Gainous, Louise Willis and Madelyn Harrell; and her son-in-law, H.H. “Ham” Baskin, Jr.
