Joye Bernice Spooner was born March 12, 1958 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Jessie Perry Spooner, Sr. and Eloise Temples Spooner. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Bainbridge Junior College. Joye worked at Shaw Industries as an industrial engineering tech until her retirement. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

With Joye, family always came first and she loved having everyone together. It gave her an excuse to cook and gave her family a reason to love pound cake. Her desire was to always serve Jesus. She found her passion at Vacation Bible School where she poured heart into the children’s ministry. Given her love for the Lord and her family, it came as no surprise that Joye postponed a treatment during revival services and Mother’s Day simply because she did not want to be sick.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, William E. “Bubba” Jones; her children, Haley Logue and her husband, Randy, of Bainbridge, Ashley Perez and her husband, Kenny, of Albany, and Leigh Green and her husband, David, of Valdosta; her parents, Eloise and Boyde Johnson; her siblings, Lynwood Spooner, Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Ocala, FL, and H. L. Spooner and his wife, Ginger, of Bainbridge; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Davis, Caleb and Noah. Joye was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Perry Spooner, Sr., and her brother, J. P. Spooner, Jr.
