Deborah Jordan “Debi” Griffin, 67, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, September
Deborah Marie Jordan was born July 27, 1951 in West Palm Beach, FL, the daughter of William M. Jordan and Hazel Praiss Jordan. Debi was a member of the Bainbridge High School Class of 1970. She went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from ABAC, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising from the University of Southern Mississippi. Debi found her true professional calling in working with children. She retired from the Decatur County School system after many years of selfless service to the children of Elcan-King and John Johnson Elementary. She took great pride in her work, and labored tirelessly to ensure each child entrusted in her care received the highest quality education.

Debi was a member of First United Methodist Church. She relished the fellowship and lively banter between friends she experienced as a member of the Sistas Bible Study Group.
Known to her friends and family as the artist in the bunch, Debi made oil come alive in her paintings. She generously shared her gift with others, including the donation of a painting that hangs today in office of the Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture. When she wasn’t painting, Debi enjoyed leading an active lifestyle. She was a fearless tennis player and an exercise enthusiast. Debi also loved horses and dogs, and enjoyed watching all the birds that visited her yard.

Debi will be best remembered for her remarkable devotion to others. Debi considered her close friends as family, and she was fiercely protective and unwaveringly loyal to those counted in that number. She always placed the needs of her family above her own, and gave of herself freely to better the lives of those she loved. Debi was particularly proud of her husband, sons, and grandchildren, and she loved sharing their accomplishments with others.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Wayne Griffin; her sons, Hugh Worthy (Kristy) Griffin, of Eagle River, AK and Jordan Charles Griffin of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Tyler and Anna Griffin of Eagle River, AK; siblings, Jessie Barron, Frank (Judy) Jordan, and Billy (Meredith) Jordan all of Bainbridge, Margaret Larmoyeux of West Palm Beach, FL, and Hazel (Vic) Laxon of Orlando FL, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debi was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth “Beth” King.
