Man arrested for oustanding warrants and drugs

On the afternoon of Sunday, September 23, Officer Jayson Myers was on patrol and received information that a subject with seven outstanding active warrants was headed to the park on College Street.

Myers had previous knowledge of the subject and that he had a history of running from law enforcement. Myers called for extra patrol in the area and advised officers to be on the lookout for the subject.

Around 5:30pm, a vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the park, and Myers positively identified the passenger as the wanted subject, Clifton Samuel III. Myers and Sergeant Tim McCain approached the vehicle with their patrol cars, attempting to block it from leaving the parking lot. Myers and McCain observed the passenger door open and were able to approach the vehicle in time to stop Samuel from fleeing the scene.

Samuel was advised to exit the vehicle and was placed in handcuffs. Sergeant McCain located three bags of marijuana on Samuel. A digital scale and backpack were located on the passenger-side area of the vehicle. Two additional bags of marijuana were found inside the backpack.

Investigator Chris Jordan arrived on scene and placed Samuel and the driver of the vehicle under arrest. Both subjects were transported to Public Safety Headquarters and were interviewed by Investigator Jordan. Following the interview process, Jordan advised Myers to release the driver of the vehicle and charge Samuel with possession of the narcotics.
