Lavone Eugene Scott was born April 24, 1935 in Brinson, GA, the son of Linza D. and Ruby Josey Scott. He graduated from West Bainbridge High School. Gene proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He was the owner of Gene Scott’s Grocery for 33 years until his retirement.

Gene was a “good ol’ boy” with a great sense of humor. He always had a joke or a story to tell. You could never make a quick trip to Gene Scott’s because he had to catch up on all the news and happenings. If anything in the area was going on, the hub for info was at the store. Gene loved the outdoors and would schedule “Miss” Phyllis to work so he could keep his hunting and fishing skills in tune.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Dollar Scott; his son, William E. Scott; his granddaughters, Samantha Scott and Shellie Scott; and his great-grandchild, Sutton. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Eloise Brock, Milton Scott, Jake Scott and Danny Scott.
