Mabel Knight Martin, 91, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Todd officiating. Interment will follow at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Martin Lanier, Chip Carroll, Otis Dean, Bruce Martin, Phillip Martin, Kevin Morris, Wayne Boyett and Greg Martin serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., on Monday, September 25, 2017.Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Mabel Knight was born March 7, 1926 in Gordon, AL, the daughter of Samuel Knight and Johnnie Snead Knight. She was a graduate of Climax High School. Mabel married Howard Martin and made her home in Decatur County until four years ago when she moved to Nashville, TN. She was a member of Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church.

Quilting was a favorite pastime and her handwork was unmatched. Mabel was a fabulous cook and would often complete a puzzle or two in between cooking and quilting. She enjoyed her social life and other activities at the church. Mabel was a champion of Wii bowling.

Survivors include her children, Charles Howard Martin of The Villages, FL, Peggi Lee Jones and her husband, Roy, of Nashville, TN, and Kathy Lynne Lanier and her husband, Randy, of Bowling Green, KY; her sisters, Esther Humphrey of Bainbridge and Joyce Clayton of Ft. Gaines, GA; her grandchildren, Jennifer Carroll and her husband, Chip, Martin Lanier and his wife, Danielle, and Callie Lanier; and her great-grandchildren, Bella Reece Carroll, Shelby Lynn Carroll and Cohyn Amanda Lanier. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Martin; her parents; her siblings, Eva Edmunds, Beatrice Boyett and Sam Knight; and her granddaughter, Amanda Knight Lanier.
