Dollie Dean Jones

Dollie Jones, 88, of Climax, GA, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ausburn officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Bryan Perry, Charles Perry, Adam Perry, Daniel Shepard, Trint Fowler and Grayson Shepard serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be A. J. Adams, Keith Adams, Tripp Fowler and Amanda Adams.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Memorial donations may be made to Magnolia Baptist Church, P. O. Box 377, Whigham, GA 39897.

Dollie Eliza Dean was born June 5, 1930 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Ernest Tom Dean and Evie Mobley Dean. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. Dollie married Charles Wesley “Charlie” Jones, Sr. and made her home in Climax.

Many will remember Dollie from the Women’s Clothing Department at the Cairo Wal-Mart. She enjoyed working with her customers and sharing in their lives. Her love for her family and her church always seemed to become part of the conversation. Senior Fridays were special times she spent with her church family.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Jones Adams and her husband, Alan, and Thomas Michael Jones, all of Fayetteville, GA; her siblings, Daisy Cox of Pelham and Wyman “Bud” Dean and his wife, Eloise, of Climax; and her seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jones; her children, Sandy Shepard and Chuck Jones; and several brothers and sisters.

  1. I am sorry for your loss. I remember Mrs. Dolly living down the dirt road. and all her children and her husband. and Adam and Daniel being friends with Charles. She suffered her share and showed great courage in living a full and long life. A wonderful example of how to carry on. May your hearts be filled with peace and and love. I know hers is and she is with the Lord and his angels.
